A Complete Guide to Knowing Your Strengths

The value of understanding your strengths, common pitfalls to avoid, the four types of strengths, and how to discover and define your strengths the right way.

"You've got to know yourself to grow yourself." - John Maxwell

When was the last time you asked yourself, "What are my strengths?" I am going to take a wild guess that the answer is probably when you last updated your resume or interviewed for a job. Maybe that was recent, maybe it was a long time ago. If this is the case, you are not alone. The act of defining our strengths has in large part been reduced to an exercise we only do when looking for a job and once we get a new job, we let that knowledge and understanding fall by the wayside.

But in truth, knowing your strengths goes far beyond buzzwords on a resume. Having an intimate understanding of your dynamic, specific and unique strengths can have a profound impact on your personal success and self-awareness. Knowing your strengths can provide clarity of purpose, direction, priorities, value and self-worth.

It isn't the fastest or easiest process, but it is certainly a worthwhile one.
